CHARITY RACES RETURN TO BEAUDESERT WITH A BANG
Wed 13 May 2026
Steeped in more than a century of history, the Beaudesert Hibernian Races have a fresh new feel as they return to Beaudesert Racecourse next weekend.
The beneficiary of this year’s racing is Beaucare, the funds raised backing the local charity’s work supporting the elderly, disadvantaged and people living with disability in the region.
The support will be very well received according to Beaucare CEO Louise Dwyer.
“It’s becoming harder than ever for many living in our community to get by, and whether we’re taking care of the lawns and dropping off meals for an older resident or helping a disabled client with daily tasks, the work we do is important,” Louise said.
“We’re really grateful for the support because every dollar we receive makes a real and immediate difference to people living right here in the Beaudesert area.”
The 2026 race day instalment is being presented with the help of a new major sponsor, construction company Spaceframe Buildings signing on to support the day.
Executive Chairman Werner Raspotnik says it’s a great opportunity for the company to give back.
“Organisations like Beaucare often fly under the radar,” he said.
“Many of us don’t notice the great work that they’re [Beaucare] doing, supporting those in the community who really need the help.
“Spaceframe is excited to partner with Beaucare and the Beaudesert Hibernian Race Club to support work which is making such a tangible impact on so many lives around Beaudesert."
Renowned as one of the highlights of Queensland’s country winter racing calendar, the annual Hibernian Race Day is regarded for its warm hospitality and off-track entertainment.
“Our yabby races have become quite a drawcard,” Hibernian President Tim Kelly said.
“There’s nothing quite like cheering for your yabby in between horse races as it crawls along the track, it’s quite a spectacle.
“We work very hard to make the whole day a really fun event and it’s not only an exciting way to spend a Saturday but a great chance to support an excellent cause.”
With live music, fashions on the field and of course a full card of racing action, organisers are expecting a large crowd of several hundred racegoers through the gates on Saturday May 23.
Tickets can be bought online or at the gate for $10, children and pensioners enter free.
